…and the art of directing. In addition to innate talent and genius, the focus is on the personal taste of every film director. Their management and determination in coordinating and assembling the relevant factors, tools and equipment to work with the application and judicious use of film techniques is another and fundamental principle of a film director’s work.
Unfortunately, most filmmakers are more interested in storytelling than laying the foundations of a film with its many technical possibilities for cinema or television!
This group of filmmakers pays very little attention to the language and meaning of camera movements and their alignment with acting and stagecraft, or they don’t know these principles as well as they should, or they confuse cinema with theatre! Put simply, this group still lives by the principles inherent in cinema’s mother, the theatre.
